This year we are partnering with local businesses and on campus retailers to give you a chance to take advantage of some great discounts and experiences in and around RVA. Check out the pictures from years past and information below for this year’s celebration. Please email staffsenate@vcu.edu for any questions or concerns.

All discounts and experiences are ONLY valid during the month of March 2021, limitations apply, see details below:

Participation in any employee appreciation month activities must be done at your own risk. Employees must follow all COVID-19 policies and protocols enforced by each business listed below. Please see business websites for more details on what limitations are currently being followed. The use of face masks and social distancing will be enforced by each business.

Please have your VCU or VCU Health Staff ID ready to present for the following locations and offers, please contact the business directly for any further questions or details on the offers provided:

Richmond Symphony

  • Richmond Symphony: Offering 20% off in-person or streaming tickets for Masterworks performances on March 5 and 6 and April 16 and 17. Not valid off Mezzanine ($82) or Rear Second Dress ($10) tickets for the in-person performances. Not retroactive.
    • Beethoven in Vienna: Beethoven is at the heart of this concert, with the majestic Piano Concerto No. 1 and the sunny and cheerful Symphony No. 4 that in its brightness recalls the symphonies of Haydn, with whom Beethoven had studied a decade before. Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Martinez, First Prize winner of the Anton Rubinstein International Piano Competition, will make her debut with the Richmond Symphony in this performance.
    • From Salzburg and Guadeloupe: For some decades, Europe had two composers of unsurpassed talent:  Mozart from Salzburg (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) and Boulogne from Guadeloupe (Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges). They were both super-stars in their lifetimes and their elegant music was played at the top theatres and palaces in Paris and London. While the name of Mozart has survived through time, Joseph Boulogne, the first known classical composer of African ancestry, a virtuoso violinist, a conductor of the leading symphony orchestra in Paris, and a renowned champion fencer, disappeared. This concert will give them both a voice. Led by our Associate Conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin, this concert will feature the American violinist Rachel Barton Pine, a remarkable talent who debuted with the Chicago Symphony at age 10, and a great advocate of Boulogne’s music.
